Summers here are long and a ceiling fan is the cheapest, quietest way through them. The usual problem is the same everywhere: you buy the fan, it arrives, and nobody will tell you what fitting it costs. Here it's €50, fixed.
What the job includes
- Taking down the existing light or fitting.
- Fixing the bracket firmly to the ceiling — this is what stops it vibrating.
- Wiring the fan and its light, if it has one.
- Balancing the blades so it doesn't wobble or hum.
- Testing every speed, the remote or switch, and the light.
About the price
The €50 is the labour for a standard installation: one where a light point already exists in the ceiling, which is the case in almost every living room and bedroom. You buy the fan — whichever one you like. If a new light point is needed, or the ceiling is plasterboard and needs reinforcing, or it's very high, I tell you before I start and we agree the price then.
